Baby Bedding - Just What Is Needed For Baby Bedding
When you are planning for or have a new little one in your home you are most likely planning a nursery that will not only be spectacular, but also practical. Included in this planning are all the little things that go into the design and preparation of making a space for your new little bundle of joy. There are many themes you can choose and no matter what you decide on, there is a style of baby bedding to go along with it.
There are many pieces that go into the baby bedding you will use. Ensure all pieces are flame retardant for safety. You also want to make sure they are not so puffy that this becomes an issue of potential smothering and other safety factors. Items that are puffy can be used on walls and as draped decorative items as opposed to being placed in the crib. You get the effect without the safety issues. Whatever you choose your bedding, here are some basics to get you started.
Mattress Cover: The cover is a clear or white plastic cover that is fitted and goes on top of the crib mattress. It protects the mattress from wetness of any sort and ensures your baby will be comfortable should an accident occur.
Crib Sheet: The crib sheet is like a smaller version of the fitted sheets we use on adult beds. It fits snugly around the baby mattress, It is wise to have several sheets on hand for changing. They can be found many times in sets or packages that have three crib sheets together. You will want to wash them before baby comes home in a soft baby-oriented laundry detergent before you use them on the crib.
Bumper: A crib bumper is a good idea to have as it is not only cute but serves an important purpose. It protects your little one from poking through rails or bumping themselves on the side of the crib while sleeping. These tie to the inside of the baby crib easily and are machine washable if needed.
Dust Ruffle: This is not a necessity, but makes an enduring look to your baby crib. They can be found to accent colors or complete a theme for a finished look for the crib in total. Many times they come in crib sets along with a bumper to match together well.
Blankets: Having one or two blankets is plenty for your little one and you want to make sure that in your quest for snuggling them in, they do not overheat. A newborn swaddled in a blanket is sufficient for sleeping on a regular day. Ensure that a larger blanket does not become a safety issue for newborns. If you have a pretty blanket, hang it on the side of the crib for decoration
Other items for baby bedding can be considered for the comfort and protection of your baby. One is a wedge that looks like a three dimensional triangle that aids in propping the baby while sleeping. This keeps your little one from sleeping on their stomach, a position not recommended for safety reasons. Other items like a music machine and pattern toys can be added for soft music while your baby falls asleep or for entertainment as they grow.
All together these items will make up the baby bedding you will use on a daily basis when you new little one arrives home. You can find great priced bedding in sets for affordable prices in many stores or online in your area. Have fun choosing the perfect bedding for your new baby.
