The control you have will depend on the type of blinds you purchase and the material they are made of. Even with the blinds completely closed, some light may still get in. Then there are the Pleated Shades. These shades are made with fabric, pleated fabric and are easy to work with.
Then there are the Honeycomb Shades also known as Cellular Shades. These shades take the pleated shade idea and add to it. They take 2 or more of the pleats and sew them together in a fashion that creates compartments. These compartments then catch and hold air which in turn creates an insulation barrier of sorts and can be a help with energy bills. Honeycomb Shades come in quite a few styles. Roman Shades are neat in that they form an accordion type pattern when you raise and lower them. They are extremely easy to use and add a nice extra value as insulators.
