Choosing a Chordless Power Drill in Today’s Marketplace

Since Black & Decker first introduced cordless drills back in 1961 there have been a lot of advances. The initial cordless drills did not have the power or battery life to get much attention from the general public, but NASA wanted to jump on the bandwagon. It was a good idea but many doubted it would ever be very useful and they clung to their corded favorites and ignored this new upstart..

Today the popularity of cordless drill is majorly due to an improvement in battery technology. While there are still those that avoid cordless drills like the plague, great advances in battery technology have made cordless drill very competitive in today’s market.

Most major tool manufacturers make a variety of cordless drills. Amoung the leaders are Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, and more reciently Panasonic. There were a lot of DeWalt fans out there among professional contractors. In reading through information online you will find fans for just about every brand of cordless power drill.

Quite recently the various models of the Panasonic cordless drill have gained such a following because of their power and light weight. Panasonic is often considered out of place on this list, because most people think of them as a manufacturer of TVs or stereo equipment, cordless power drills is just one of the many other areas of product that Panasonic makes.

A debate between contractors as to which is the best cordless power drill takes on the color of a political debate. It’s not just Dewalt many of the major brands have loyal fans.

While Ryobi cordless drills are less of a contender with the pros then some of the others we’ve mentioned, they have a very strong following including handymen and do-it-yourselfers, who don’t want to pay the price for a luxury tool. Many amateur users are also fans of Black & Decker.

If you look at the way he will be using your drill and what you can afford to spend, this will make the decision, of which cordless drill to get, an easier one. See what other users have had to say about the models you’re looking at. Seek out the bad as well as the good in order to get the full picture of whether the product will meet your needs. If you follow this procedure your chances of making a good purchase is far greater than if you only look at the manufacturers information or the data provided to you by someone who is trying to sell you on a particular product. Good Luck!
