Creative Ideas For Low Cost Bar Stools And Discount Seats
Home decoration activities can be an enjoyable time for those with some creative abilities. Pairing up various pieces of new furniture with already-existing chairs, lamps and other furnishings normally isn’t so difficult - expect for the expense. But how about something as basic as bar stools?
We’ve all been tempted by the discount bar stools available at most large department discount stores. Unfortunately, they’re notoriously cheap and just not that comfortable, meaning they often wind up in the garbage instead of in use.
If you’re looking for ideas on what to do with your bar stools, whether collapsible or not, keep reading.
Flower Stand
For less than $10 a stool, you can create a tiered plant atrium that’s funky and functional. First, look for cheap bar stools that have a solid, hard top rather than a padded seat. Then, cut each stand to a different height by sawing off the legs, but be careful that the stool is still level.
Then start stripping, sanding and painting each one to match your design idea. Once they’re ready, you’ll have a tiered atrium and all for less than $10 a stool.
Bar stool customization doesn’t have to stop at paint and plants. You can take it up a notch with decoupage collages, mosaic tiling or impressive beaded seats. Your funky design will instantly take that stool from discount to diva.
Bedside Table
It may scream “dorm room décor,” but discount bar stools make a great bedside table. Dress it up with a fabric throw or tablecloth and presto - you’ve got a compact table that matches your bedroom décor. The vinyl-topped models may be too unsteady for drinks, but should be fine for holding a bedside lamp and a few books.
For the really crafty, try picking up a cheapie bar stool at your local discount store and then reupholstering it with your own fabric. You’ll take that discount vinyl stool and turn it into a masterpiece with leopard-print fun fur or a prettily printed floral pattern.
Camping Stools
Have you ever tried to pack a stack of folding lawn chairs in your car for a family camping trip? They’re awkward and take up way too much space in the trunk. In contrast, a lightweight, aluminum-core discount bar stool will stack easily, doesn’t weigh much and is much more portable. They’re also great for watching football games or family picnics.
Extra Seating
The most obvious use for portable and foldable bar stools are as extra seating for guests. Whether it’s a large family gathering, a small event or a games night, extra seating can come in handy.
Instead of buying massive stackable chairs that are cumbersome and take up space, a folding bar stool can be easily stacked or hung.
