Saving energy will also be according to the same saying. You can look around your home and ponder over where the most energy is being consumed. Electric fixtures in your house, especially a Chandelier light fixture is something you should keep in mind. In general, Chandelier light fixtures, if not wired properly, may result in a lot of dangers a well as energy losses. However, there are still many places around your house that have to be energy efficient. Below are a few advices and ways how you can conserve energy at your house.
• The initial step is to use energy efficient lighting in your home. Better consciousness about green living makes CFL bulbs the finest choice to many. Compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75% lower energy than incandescent lights. Also, they have at least eight to ten times longer life as compared to the incandescent bulbs.
• Leaving your televisions and computers on standby will still use some of the energy. It is better to switch them off when not in use. Also, you should disconnect the appliances when they are not in your use. Appliances that are still plugged in and not in use tend to use electricity and increase your electricity bills. Disconnect them when not in use and you will find a noticeable decrease in your bills.
• When you use bigger appliances of your home that use relatively more amount of energy as compared to the rest, ensure that you use them only if they are fully loaded. Machines like dishwashers, washing machines and hair dryers use much of electricity. An appliance like a dishwasher will use fairly lower amount of electricity if it’s fully loaded as compared to the amount of electricity used when it is not fully loaded.
• Switch off all the lights that are not in use. Turn off the lights of the bedroom if you are sitting in the living room. Do not keep the TV running at all times. The practice of switching off unused lights is not that hard. Once you get accustomed of it you can even limit down the electricity expenses you pay.
• Home insulation so far has also proven to be a superb way of saving energy. Nearly half of all the heat escapes through walls and roof of the home. Proper insulation helps the heat to stay in.
• Use the thermostat/air conditioner according to your climate. If you are using an air conditioner, select a temperature that is just a few degrees lower than outdoors so that you do not have to use blankets and sweaters in the house. Likewise, when you use a thermostat do not choose a temperature so high that you begin to feel hot in your abode. You will save a great deal on your electricity bills as well as the energy.
