Four Elements To Consider When Choosing Care Home Furniture
Choosing and purchasing the right care home furniture can often prove to be a difficult undertaking and one that carries much weight. The comfort and happiness of its residents should always be the prime concern for all care homes and a key factor in this area is the furniture which they have available to them. Here we discuss four elements that must be considered to make sure that you buy care home furniture that meets the needs of your residents.
Get the numbers right
Start the process by counting up to see just how many of each furniture item you require. Then double check and triple check your figures. The number of companies that purchase the wrong amount of furniture items is quite staggering. Obviously buying too many items will mean you are paying more than you need to, but ordering less can also mean that you don’t get as good a discount on your care home furniture.
Space management
Once you know how much furniture you need you should then do a little bit of checking to see that the care home furniture you have your eye on will fit nicely into the intended space. Nearly all care home furniture manufacturers will be able to offer you a space management service to ensure the furniture fits well. If the manufacturer doesn’t provide such a service then it is certainly worth doing your own checking using a tape measure.
Purpose
The care home furniture you are purchasing doesn’t need to be particularly innovative; usability and comfort is the main priority. So opt for recliners that have soft cushions and dining chairs with arms to enable easy use.
Decor
Whilst ensuring care home furniture that is fit for purpose is the key concern, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider the aesthetics side of things. Opt for furniture that fits in with the decor of the room in which it will be positioned. Any decorating that is intended should ideally be done before you order the furniture. If its not possible to decorate before ordering your furniture then you should try to put a little of your chosen paint onto the walls, or hold the wallpaper up to give you an idea of the furniture colours that will go best.
