Solar Power For Home Use - Save On Fossil Fuels

Fossil fuel energy sources are depleting at a rapid rate, so it makes sense that we use the abundant energy available for free – solar energy. Solar power is easily available, and using solar energy helps reduce environmental pollution. Many people shy away from installing solar power solutions at home, because there is an general impression that they are expensive and cumbersome. Generating solar power for home use is actually quite easy. What’s more, converting to home solar power can reduce your power bills dramatically. And, of course, you will be playing your part in saving the planet for future generations.

Today we examine a few of the home solar power solutions for home use.

Solar Cooker

A solar cooker allows you to harness solar power to cook food, without requiring any othe form of fuel. Box shaped, a solar cooker can cook food for up to five people, using solar power. Unconventional cooking methods might appear to limit your culinary creativity, but this is not an issue with the solar cooker. You are not limited to boiling in the solar cooker - you can also bake and roast! The only creative cookery limitation with the solar cooker is the time it takes to cook - you need to plan ahead and select the right recipes. Even so, because a solar cooker is free to run, it is a good option to cut down those spiralling energy bills.

Solar Home Lighting

The lights in your home can be powered by solar energy, through a solar home lighting system, which uses solar power to generate electricity to run the lights. Solar cells are use to generate solar power for home use; they become electriaclly charged after absorbing solar radiation. The lights in the house are then powered at night by the stored energy in the solar cells. Once you have solar home lighting installed, you will never need to worry about power for your lights again.

Solar Heating System

Having your own solar heating system will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions; it will also reduce the drain on your wallet from those ever-increasing utility bills. Some people have worried that a solar heating system may turn their family home into a cluttered, techno-looking gadget house, or that it would be an expensive investment, but they have found that their concerns were misplaced. Solar power solutions that are available these days are generally well-designed and attractive.

When considering price, it is wise to think of a solar heating system as an investment, from which you get a return in 3-4 years, and thenceforth free power for the rest of your life.

Home Solar Panels

You can reduce the price of converting to solar power even further, by making your own solar panels for a fraction of the price of buying a commercial product. The parts you need to make solar panels can be purchased at any hardware store, and assembling the panels is a relatively simple home handyman task.
