Aluminium guttering owes its longevity to the requirement for only simple and occasional maintenance. Aluminium can last as long as thirty years; three times more than plastic. It is the long lifespan of aluminium gutters which makes them a sensible investment.

Ultimately, attractiveness plays a role in the decision too. Some homeowners may prefer one colour of guttering over another. Whilst plastic and iron can be difficult to pain, aluminium is not. When cast iron has been painted, it is likely to peel; aluminium does not have this problem.
