Beautifying Your Home With Wooden Blinds

Wooden blinds are popular choice for homeowners seeking a way to beautify their home while protecting it from the elements at the same time.  When used on the exterior of the home, in the form or shutters, wooden blinds protect windows from rain, snow and debris.

If wooden blinds or shutters are treated with a wood sealant, they are likely to last many years despite harsh weather conditions.  Sealants stop water from penetrating the wood’s surface, protecting it from decay.  This way your wooden blinds can function effectively to insulate the home from the heat and cold.

Wooden blinds, even those on the interior of the home, provide better heat insulation when closed than curtains alone.  Blocking drafts and the coldness that radiates from glass windows in cold weather, they provide an additional barrier between homeowners and inclement weather.

By the same token, heat is prevented from escaping through these vulnerable sites in the home.  Anyone aware of the price of heating home will see this as an obvious benefit to choosing wooden blinds over alternate window coverings.

That is not to say that wooden blinds are only useful in the winter.  Insulation is a valuable asset in the summer months as well when the temperature climbs to unbearable levels.  Wooden blinds provide shade and relief from the unrelenting rays of sun that accompany summer weather.

Additionally, owners may find that their air conditioning system runs more efficiently with the addition of wooden blinds. Cool air is trapped inside rather than being lost to the arid climate outside.
